Weapon types

There are loads of diffrent guns in Call of Duty, everything from explosive, to asault rifles, to snipers. In a few Call of Duty games, there are also cross bows which have exploding arows. There are certain weapons that are better at certain times. for example, you dont wasn to be using an SMG on a large sniper map because it is a close range weapon.

When using an SMG, you dont want to be on big sniping maps, and when using a sniper, you dont want to be on a small close quarters map. RPGs or other explosive weapons can be effective on both map types, but not so much for close quarter maps because you risk blowing yourself up. You also have grenade launchers and hand grenades as well.

Long Range Weapons

Long range weapons are guns that you would typicaly use on a large wide open map. these guns consist of snipers, RPGs and even ARs when givin the right attachments. Long range weapons are good for dilivering powerful acurate hits which do lots of damage from long range.

Snipers are the most common and most effective long range weapons. Snipers are great becausse of their scopes. their scopes allow people to zoom in close on their target from far away. They are also very acurate fom very far away, alowing someone to eliminate their target from across the map. RPGs are also capable of delivering high damage from far away but are not as good of a choice because they travel slow, allowing the target to move out of the way of the missle.

Close Range Weapons

Close range guns are not guns that you want to try to be shooting someone with from any sort of distance. Close range weapons are your sub machine guns and shotguns. You could even use an AR as long as it has the proper attachments, not all ARs can be used though.

SMGs are machineguns that have low range, but at perfct at close range because thier fast fire rate alows them to deliver high damage very quickly. Shotguns are also good at close range because they have scatter shot, the closer you hit your target from, the more bullets that hit them per round. the farther you shoot them from, the less bullets that hit them, which means less damage.
